So it's 4.15a.m. right now and you must think I'm crazy for being awake this late, but after having not read the Word
properly in what feels like a loooong time, I was suddenly starving! I'm so excited for service today, and it's in a few hours! I hope my mum will be able to make it too :) I can't wait to hear Pastor David Lin talk!
Little Foxes - June 3/07.
You and me, we have something in common. Whenever we're trying to accomplish a task, we find that there are always "little foxes" that get in the way. These "little foxes" represents the obstacles we face in the midst of fulfilling a certain task, and no matter how tiny these "little foxes" may be, they can immediately change the way we
react and
deal with things. However what strengthens us and determines our true attitude is
how we react and deal with these "little foxes" that get in our way.
For example, say you had to be in school super early on a Monday morning just to be on time for an assembly that you were taking part in, and you are one of those people who don't have problems when it comes to being on time. This Monday morning starts out just fine, and you wake up at 6a.m. because you know you've got to arrive at school at 7.15a.m. just before assembly starts at 7.30am. You get in the car and leave the house by 6.45a.m. and you relax in the car by turning up your favourite song to start off your day (knowing that you have a good 30 minutes to arrive to school). Suddenly traffic approaches you at around 7, but it doesn't get to you yet and you're still in a relaxed state. However, 5 minutes come to pass and you're not getting anywhere on the road, and you start blaming all the cars in front of you (since that is what most Bruneians do), cursing in whatever language and being impatient. Next thing you know, your relaxed state and mood has completely changed, and you're acting in an ungodly way (which may lead to sin, etc). Instead of being calm and just letting matters be, you react towards the traffic in a negative sense. In this kind of situation, your
patience is tested. Patience can be tested by several ways but the most common factor would have to be by
interruptions.
Psalms 139:23-24
"Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting."
See it's
how we deal with these interruptions and other "little foxes" that determines the level of our patience. We can
choose to deal with it the
right way, or we can choose to deal with it the
wrong way, by losing control of certain things that we have total power over. By choosing the right way, it is blatantly obvious that our mood won't have a major affect on the rest of our day and the people around us. Whatever state we are in, it
affects the people around us. If we are sad, angry or pissed off and choose not to talk to people, it affects them emotionally and we see that it usually affects the people we're closest to.
Whenever things are
not going our way, we tend to get discouraged easily- and really quick too! We should know that God is with us all the time, and we have the Holy Spirit with us too! We are
different when we are in the and walking with the Spirit, and we can solve our problems more precisely and faster than others that do not have the Holy Spirit- and we should rejoice and thank God for this! :) We should
never let the "little foxes" get in our way because the aim of the Devil is to
discourage us whenever possible, and to let us
lose control over our thoughts and actions. Do you want the Devil to win over this little battle? Wouldn't you rather
gain control of your thoughts and actions rather than
lose control of it?
We must choose the right and
wise way, however we must also be sure that what may be
right thing to do may not be the
wise thing to do. Of course some of us may find it difficult to make decisions, and this is where we cry out to the LORD for help and trust in Him and His ways.
(Psalm 37:3) He knows what we are thinking everytime, even though we may not be aware of it.
(Psalms 139:2, Psalm 139:4, Proverbs 5:21) Please take note that
it's the little things that hinder you in your life.
Hinder:
1. to cause delay, interruption, or difficulty in; hamper; impede
2. to prevent from doing, acting, or happening; stop
Would you want the little foxes to 'stop' you from accomplishing your desired task or goal? Do you want something so little to
'prevent' you from doing something that you wish to do? Even a simple
'delay' can change the entire situation, and why let these small things make your task harder than it already is? Deal with it the wise and right way by choosing the correct way to act, and never forget to put your trust fully in God! and I pray that like me, you may slowly learn how to be more patient towards things as you never know when God is testing us. It is important that we apply the Word into daily life situations (even small matters), because that is when the Word truly comes to life!
and I am done rambling, it is 5.12a.m. now (woah, like an hour later!) and I'm so ready for service now!! I just luuuuuuurve being in the presence of GOD man, what about you?! :D
